How to Save & Backup Outfits
Learn where Hytale stores your custom outfits and how to keep them safe.
Where Outfits Are Cached
Hytale stores your character outfit configurations locally on your computer. These are saved as JSON files that contain all the information about your character's appearance, including clothing, accessories, colors, and more.
The outfit files are stored in the game's cache directory, which varies by operating system:
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Hyskins\outfits\~/Library/Application Support/Hyskins/outfits/~/.local/share/Hyskins/outfits/Backing Up Your Outfits
Regular backups ensure you never lose your favorite character creations. Follow these steps to backup your outfits:
- Navigate to the outfits folder for your operating system
- Select all the outfit files you want to backup
- Copy them to a safe location (external drive, cloud storage, etc.)
- Repeat this process regularly or after making new outfits
Restoring Outfits
If you need to restore your outfits (e.g., after reinstalling Hytale or switching to a new computer):
- Make sure Hytale is closed
- Navigate to the outfits folder
- Copy your backed-up outfit files into this folder
- Launch Hytale - your outfits should now appear in the character menu

Create subfolders within your backup directory to organize outfits by theme, color, or character type.
Use Cloud Storage
Save backups to cloud services like Google Drive or Dropbox for automatic syncing across devices.
Version Control
